What's wrong with Ms. Secretary Kim, a kdrama review

           My personal rating: 10/10

Hi, time for the drama review.
This time, I watched a series that I had been eagerly awaiting for a very long time. In fact, I couldn't wait any more I'm happy I saw it at last, and I have lots to say!(I can tell you ahead of time that this review will be extremely positive.)
So let's get started without further ado!
Let's get started.

I love both the main actors, Park Seo Joon and Park Min Young. What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?is a 16-episode drama (very old school, 16 episodes lasting around an hour each) about Lee Young Joon, the Vice Chairman of Yumyung Group, a big company (played by Park Seo Joon). He has a reputation for being extremely choosy and a little narcissistic. Kim Mi So (Park Min Young), his secretary, has worked for him for nine years and has had to comply with all of his requests. Despite her unfavourable beginnings, she has developed into the person Young Joon leans on the most because she is fluent in everything and doesn't even need to be asked to complete some chores because they have become routine to her. To be honest, without her, young Joon wouldn't know what to do. Following that, Secretary Kim unexpectedly declares her intention to resign. Disoriented, Young Joon searches for possible explanations for her decision and concludes that it must be that she likes him and that she is unable to work with anybody else due to her affections or that she finds it unbearable when he spends time with other women. Without understanding Mi So's side of the tale, he decides to court her on his own.

This is how the story opens, and during this part, we are made to believe that the Vice Chairman is merely an ignorant, snobbish man who wishes to have his dependable Secretary by his side. This, too, was my assumption that the drama would mostly concentrate on his speculating as to why she want to resign and her continued state of secrecy. However, that was incorrect.
Because Mi So's motivation for wanting to resign is extremely evident, and it is entirely related to her past. Nevertheless, she is initially put off by Young Joon's sudden bombard of statements such, "I'll marry you so you won't have to quit your job and can stay by my side forever."However, there is another factor that will bind them together, and when that is disclosed, everything takes on an entirely new meaning. I'll illustrate by putting the backstories of Young Joon and Mi So next to each other.

Born as the youngest child of Yumyung Group Chairman, Young Joon has an elder brother named Sung Yeon (portrayed by Lee Tae Hwan). Because he is so much smarter than other kids his age, little Joon skips a few grades and enrolls in the same school as his four-year-old brother. The elder brother begins to bully the younger brother a little because he doesn't like that the younger sibling gets all the attention. One day, under the disguise of going to buy them some beverages, Sung Yeon abandons Young Joon on an empty street, which is when the bullying begins (but he just leaves him there). Then a crazed woman kidnaps young Joon. Young Joon is held captive in an unpleasant abandoned mansion for three days before he is able to leave.

When Mi So's mother became ill and ultimately passed away, she was just five years old. Her father, a man who loves rock music, spends the night at the hospital, leaving her and her two older sisters alone at home. When Mi So wakes up in the middle of the night, she chases after her mother believing she sees her outside. Little Young Joon and Little Mi So are thus kept inside the house where the insane woman hangs herself in front of them at the end of the day. When Young Joon sees this, he makes every effort to prevent Mi So from doing the same. He informs Mi So that the large spider she is unable to look at is what is hanging there, not the insane woman. This cognitive error causes Mi So to subsequently develop an arachnophobia. After the two successfully leave, Young Joon returns Mi So to her home. where he tells her that he will visit her again, but on the way home, he gets struck by something and ends up in the hospital, terrified.

Even though Mi So is only 5 years old and cannot recall everything that happened, this experience has already brought the two together. She does recall that there is a boy she has to find, and part of the reason she wants to leave her work and go on living her own life is because she is searching for him. even if she has trouble recalling his name. However, Young Joon continues to experience nightmares; every time he shuts his eyes, he suffers by visions of the insane woman. Additionally, he suffers a traumatic reaction to cable ties because they were used to bind his feet during the kidnapping. And there are still scars on his ankles.

Mi So gradually begins to notice small hints that make her believe that Young Joon could be the boy from her past. But then his brother Sung Yeon, who is now a well-known author under the pen name Morpheus, leads her astray. He depicts a scene in his most recent work that is remarkably similar to the pictures she recalls, and when she confronts him, he acknowledges that he was taken hostage even if he doesn't recall her being there. Ultimately, it is revealed that Sung Yeon had manipulated his own memories due to the childhood guilt he experienced upon learning what had happened to his younger brother after he had left him on that street.

After seeing the home where Young Joon had been detained, he changed his memories, leading him to believe that Young Joon had abandoned him there and that he had been the one abducted, This greatly irritated Young Joon, who was still able to recall everything, and the two brothers began to fight frequently.  Additionally, Young Joon changed his name to Young Joon to avoid confusing his older brother, as Sung Hyun, the name he was given at birth, sounded a lot like his brother's. Sung Yeon became more certain that he had been abducted when he mistook the constant chatter about Sung Hyun's kidnapping for his own name.

I really appreciate how they came up with this, even though it appears complicated. I thought it was a pretty smart and well-considered move to base the entire scenario around a child's cognitive shortcomings. That was also the case for Mi So. Not just with the spider, but also with her attempt to recall the boy's name who had aided her. When she reaches "Lee Sung," she readily accepts that Lee Sung Yeon must be the person in question. She considers the possibility that it might have been a false recollection when things don't add up and his mother also provides her with some information that causes her to reconsider. She is asked to explain to his mother the precise events surrounding "our Hyun. "Mi So's ability to draw the connection on her own simply goes to show how smart she is. She even discovers on her own that Young Joon was once known as Sung Hyun.

I love this k drama so much this was my first k drama, as far as I can remember hehe. The plot twist was really unexpected, the cute scenes throughout the movie, the chemistry between the main lead was french kiss.

Respectfully yours,
Eowyn Kimberly Cordero.
